About The Washing Well
The Washing Well is a unique community laundromat located in Cincinnati's Lower Price Hill neighborhood. Owned and managed by the nonprofit organization Community Matters, this facility is more than just a place to do laundry—it's an asset built from the ideas and strengths of the community it serves. Founded on the belief that everyone deserves the chance to thrive, its operations are led by dedicated Lower Price Hill neighbors. Choosing The Washing Well means supporting a mission-driven organization dedicated to removing barriers to opportunity and fostering a more just and vibrant community. It provides a vital service while championing partnership and investing directly back into the neighborhood.
The Washing Well provides a modern and comfortable laundry experience with a variety of high-efficiency, commercial front-load Huebsch machines, including 25lb to 60lb washers and 30lb to 45lb dryers. These machines are not only effective but also environmentally friendly, using less water than typical home appliances. For customer convenience, the facility is fully attended during all open hours and features ample free street parking, large folding tables, a TV area, and laundry supplies like detergent and bags for sale. Instead of coins, The Washing Well uses the modern FasCard system. Customers can pay with a laundry card—loadable with cash or credit/debit—or pay for cycles directly with a credit/debit card. The associated FasCard mobile app lets users check machine availability and get cycle alerts. As a community-focused enterprise, its pricing is 25-50% lower than conventional laundromats, and customers receive a $1 loyalty reward for every $20 spent using a laundry card.
