DEF is a carefully blended aqueous urea solution of 32.5% high purity urea and 67.5% deionized water. It's necessary for the functionality of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems in modern diesel engines, helping reduce emissions and comply with environmental regulations.

DEF should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight. If stored between 10 and 90°F, the shelf life is about one year; if stored below 75°F, the shelf life extends to two years. DEF is nontoxic, nonpolluting, non-hazardous, and nonflammable.
